…little lower than heavenly beings
I like to get emails from friends. Most of this emails are about sharing common services,plans etc. Some day ago I had an email from a good friend of mine. His email it is a request. He made me to think about psalms number 8. I am copying a part from his kind email here:
“Dear Szilard; a friend of mine …. want to use different exegesis of this psalm by different ministers around the world. So she asked a minister from Nigeria from Indonesia and from the molukken and she new that a friend of mine is a minister in Romania. Can you make a exegesis of this psalm for here and would you include the context where you living in. With love …..” I changed more emails about what realy exersesis would me in context of my living, and I asked my friends’s friends about. The answer it was :”I like to know the important ‘things and thinks’ of other traditions.Another collegue write a sermon for people in South Afrika, and one for indonesian people and another nigerian people and .. many others.”
After changing some emails I opened my Bible to psalms and I searched number 8. I mediated about text and I put words on my copiuter’s scrren:
From first verses, I learned that this psalms it is a song in occasion of pressing the grapes after harvest. This is a psalmus being sing, in occasion of trampling on grapes in a simple procedure of making must for wine. Wine it is not only the symbol, but also a material value of well being. Who has wine has an attitude and appreciation for cultures and making houses to be home. Wine it is a mark of eagerness for culture. It takes many time to cultivate for grapes and there it is an on-going procedure of making wine from must can be different in cultures. Wine having the taste of caring and works.Wine latter become a symbol of life , as being symbol of blood of Jesus And in this sence it is a sylbol of communion,too. If you share wine with yours you give all your provision of works, service and your time from your life. And this work can not be done in succes way if you work only single. This work also need company, communion whom we can share our work .
When I am reading this psalm I can not forget that this song it is song, what workers song together while they made must for wine. This common work it is for preparing “something” also for sharing. It is important to be in community of this service, having a lot of beauty and love. The second verse of this psalm it is about recognising and expressing of this beauty - and the base of this recongisition and expression it is a happy faith and a happy realisation and touching of experiense of recepting something or somebody about we can call “Creator”,Who made this to become true and in deed part of human life. In this point of wiew ,this psalm it is an elation of thanksgiving for everything good in this life, and also can be called a confession of soul of whom recognise the link between Creator and creation, and this recognisition gives a flaming and exuberance of joy for being a human and for having all of kindness what life makes life differente and valuable. This warm-hearted attitude elevate human souls in a height , and this altitude it is a place of dicovering all things being important in human life. This recogision pronouncing glory and praise , majestry to “Someone”, who made all this becoming existence of human life. This is like an awakes and refinding ourselves as part of large creation.
The power of this effulsive experience it is innocency. If someone may like to contest for existence of all experience of divinty ( and in this way questioning divinity,too ) , will be beaten by children and infants. This strenght can not be loser , because life itself can not be disconfited.
Man while dancing on grapes, he is looking up and see the sky, moon and starts and opening a question from deep inside : ” what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man you care for him ?” This is a learnig question and also a process of finding answer about love of Creator. From this recongisition naturaly comming new and new knowlege, that Creator made human “.. a little lower , than heavenly beings, and crowned him with glory and honor.”So well, there is not a big distance or differency between heavenly beings and humans - this recongnition can be found while psalm being sang and dancing in aroma of grapes . That it is why the distance it is being touchable : because of service , because of dance and singing the beauty of life . Man it also a “ruler” of other creations, like flocs and herts, and the beast of the field,the birds of air, and the fish of the sea. This appreciation gives a mightly aknowledments, gratitude to Creator.
In my country grape harvest and compaction of grapes used to be festivity, when all of family comed together having dance and joy. From this tradition become a tratiotion in comunity. This tradition it is an all night party in a culture HOuse or restaurant, with music and dance. For this entertainment particiapation has to pay on entrance , and for this money he or she has music a place to dance and a nice company. In villages it is still a living tradition that young man goes in back of horse in traditonal clothes and other are in horse pulling vagon with musitians and girls singing around village and this is atheir invitation to this grape harves party to Culture House. This youngs are organiser of this party having in each fall times.
(Even of this tradition it is sad to mkention that in villages the traditional hortycultura is going down.)

See you in spring time, and sometime I hope to have a dance with you in traditonal grapes harvest party ( Please do not ask me to be all night, long time ago I attendet nightly entertimes with dance and sing.
